Mike Dvorak

PHOTOGRAPHER

I have been fishing since I was old enough to hold a rod.  It has been one of the constants in my life, something I've never tired of.  Combined with my photography, it takes me to some amazing places and introduces me to interesting and passionate people.

The photographs on this site are examples of people, places and fish I've met and photographed over the years.  Some were for publications, some for lodges to use in promotional materials, and some are just because I always carry my camera.

If you are an editor or art director and would like to hire me for assignment work please contact me by phone or email.

When I'm not on the river or assignment, I spend much of my time photographing long term Social Documentary projects.  My work is exhibited internationally and is included in Museum collections.  I work with Black and White film, and I maintain a darkroom in downtown Minneapolis.

GUIDE

I grew up on the banks of the Beaverhead and Big Hole rivers just outside Dillon, Montana.  I hiked many miles of rivers and climbed thousands of feet of high mountain trails to named and un-named alpine lakes - all in search of trout. In 1992 after an all to long tour of the Middle East, I moved to Minneapolis to study photography and was introduced to the trout streams of western Wisconsin.

For 23 years now, I've been fly fishing those streams, so it's safe to say I've put in my time. It's an amazing fishery with great May fly and Caddis hatches in the spring and early summer, that graduate into early morning Tricos in July and great terrestrial and streamer fishing into the late summer and early fall.

I've pursued trout around the world, from Patagonia to Alaska, and I still love to explore western rivers and high mountain lakes. But this is my home water, and I consider it some of the best.

If you'd like to spend a day on the water with me, feel free to call or email.
